Contents page mock

To make sure how i want my contents page to look like works and everything fits I needed to do a simple mock to make sure I could fit it onto an A4 side. This includes the composition of photos and text.

My contents page will also include the website an page numbers below the free CD advertisment as these are common conventions of a contents page.

Photoshoot costumes

I have decided to use a boy on the front cover of House Creations because there seem to be much moor male house artist then female. Before taking my shoot I need to consider what that will be wearing. To do this i researched into the existing house music magazine mixmag and looked at all the covers with men on them. I common ground I found was that many of them wear sunglasses.

 

 

Therefore I am going to make my model wear sunglasses as shown below;

I am going to get my model to wear a number of different outfits such as;

 

A smart suit, a plain t-shirt and finally just a shirt.

 

I have chosen these as these are popular casual outfits that house artist wear and appear on mixmag covers as shown above both male artist are wearing plain t-shirts. Below shows the due Chase and Status one wearing a plain shirt and the other wearing a smart suit.

This shows a variety of different costumes that could be worn and are popular within the EDM genre. I plan to use a variety of costumes to show my understanding of fashion with my genre and so that my target audience are able to recognise the artist straight away.

Fashion is important within the EDM genre. EDM artist take pride in what they wear and there image although it is very mainstream and causal what they wear. Mixmag magazine have a fashion option on their website wear all readers can keep up with the latest fashion.

 





 

 



Planning the shoots for my contents page

As I want my magazine to have a relationship with their readers I want to show how they can contact each other through pictures. During the summer once I knew I was taking AS media, I went to a few festivals. I took pictures while I were there of the stages and crowds to use a pictures that fans have sent in of their favourite events. I have pictures from the festival SW4 and Lovebox.

Lovebox doesn't have its own website but this is a website with photos and details on the 2013 and 2014 festival.

 

All pictures I am going to use on my contents page are original pictures I have taken from both of these festivals. I will go through all the pictures I took and choose the ones which have the best lighting and have been taken at the best angle. All the people in the photo are wearing wellies and shorts so we know where they are straight away.

 

Also on my contents page I will have a picture of the same people as I do on the front cover but in a different location with a different pose. This is to show continuity from the front cover to the contents page but to show rage within my photography skills. 

Flat Plan of the whole magazine

A flat plan shows all the pages in the magazine.

 

 

House Creations is a magazine where you can find out about the newst artists, singles and events. It allows its reader to be apart of the magazine by sending in their photos and taking part in compitions. This is what makes House Creations different to any other EDM magazine. 

Typography

The art or procedure of arranging type or processing data and printing from it.

Above is the logo for one of the biggest world wide EDM festivals and is recognised by all EDM fans. EDC stands for Electronic Daisy Carnival. This style of writing is used through out electronic dance music for example the masthead of Mixmag magazine is written in a similar font.

 

 

The name of my magazine is 'House Creations' This is based on the house artist 'Hot creations' As house is a part of EDM the target audience will relate to this title immediately and be able to understand what genre this magazine is straight away. I have collected a group of fonts which I think reflect my genre well for example;

 

 

 

 



To choose which font is the best I emailed a group of friends asking them for feedback to make sure I have the correct font for my target audience.

I have come to the conclsuion that the font I am going to use is number two as it felects house music the best out of all three and house music listeners have also agreed that this portays the genre well.
